If your opponent makes an illegal move, pause the clock, call the arbiter over. You will be awarded 2 extra minutes if the Arbiter agrees an illegal move was made. You will win the game if your opponent makes a second illegal move in the same game, provided you still have mating material left on the board, otherwise the game is declared drawn.

Safety Rules:

By entering the tournament, you agree to the following 6 safety measures:

(1) Players will need to wear a face mask at all times indoors in the function room. Players will be asked to leave the venue if they have no face covering. Players with medical conditions affecting their breathing are exempt from wearing a mask but do need to wear a face shield that covers their entire face.

(2) Players will need to apply hand sanitiser before the start of each game or wear gloves while playing chess.

(3) Chess boards will be spaced out for social distancing. Tables will also be spaced out.

(4) Please do not shake hands before or after a game. You may bump elbows instead.

(5) Anyone with Covid symptoms or living with someone with a cough, fever, loss of smell or taste, needs to avoid coming to the event. Please contact Chief Arbiter B. Jamison immediately by phone or email.

(6) No spectator is allowed in the chess room without a face covering and all spectators must stand at least 2 metres from any chess board. We are limited to a maximum of 4 spectators at this event, making 30 as the total number of people in the chess room (i.e. 24 players, 2 arbiters and 4 spectators).

Please pay your 6 pounds entry fee in advance to B. Jamison by PayPal, Revolut or bank transfer. This will complete your registration process. If you only send an email asking to play but do not follow up with the entry fee, then your place will not be held.
