Stormont Outdoor Blitz Chess Championship 2021

Masks not needed at this event

Check-in at 9 am

Take seats at 9:10am for Round 1 commencing

Games will run from 9:15am to 11:40am

Prize-giving: 11:40am to 11:45am

8 Trophies:

Elite section: Champion, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, Under 1500 Grading Award + Under 1350 Grading Award

Play Park section: Champion, 2nd Place + 3rd Place

 

This event will be submittted to UCU for ratings.

Rounds:

5 rounds of 6+6
(this means a 60 move game will run for 24 minutes)

Programme:

Software: Swiss Master 5.7, with tie-breaks in the following order: Median Buchholz, Buchholz and Progressive.

Rules:

FIDE rules will apply. Mobile phones must be switched off. Phones making any type of noise will result in the player automatically losing their game.

If your opponent makes an illegal move, pause the clock, call the arbiter over. You will be awarded 1 extra minute if the Arbiter agrees an illegal move was made. You will win the game if your opponent makes a second illegal move in the same game, provided you still have mating material left on the board, otherwise the game is declared drawn.

Please pay your £3.50 entry fee in advance to Chief Arbiter B. Jamison by Paypal, Revolut or bank transfer.

Once payment has been received, your place in the competition is secured.

Outdoor Rules

RULES FOR OUTDOOR CHESS

 

(1) Players will need to wear gloves while playing chess. Or bring hand sanitiser and apply before the start of each game, before touching any chess pieces.

 

(2) Chess boards will be spaced out at 1 metre distance between boards. Tables will also be spaced out. 

 

(3) Anyone with Covid symptoms or living with someone with a cough, fever, loss of smell or taste, needs to avoid coming to the chess event
