STREETS FOR MY SWEET
By David Dinsmore
LIFE is sweet in this city built entirely from sugar. The sculpture was made at the Ulster Museum in Belfast using half a million sugar cubes - with the tallest part standing at 6ft high.
Scultors Mark Revels, above, and Brendan Jamison, below right, invited every visitor to the museum to participate in the creation of the large-scale installation. More than 5,000 people took part between October 18 and its completion last Sunday. There are a total of 207 different constructions in the Sugar Metropolis.
Jamison said: "This special project celebrates the power of collaboration in art, unlocking the potential of thousands of minds working together in the realisation of an artwork beyond any one person's singular vision."
The completed Sugar Metropolis is open to view until January 5. Now there's something to sweeten your day.
